Welcome to the Enterprise Education Foundation

Welcome to the Enterprise Education Foundation's website! Our intent with this website is to keep you informed of things that the Foundation is working on.

First, lets give you a little bit of history on the Enterprise Education Foundation. The Foundation was formed in 1998 when the State of Oregon cut funding to rural schools throughout Oregon. When this happened, Enterprise was forced to cut the art, music, vocational agriculture, and home economic classes for kids in grades K - 12. Five families got together, and decided that this cut was not acceptable, and started the process on what could be done to save these programs. The founding members of the EEF were the families of Roy Garten, Mike Wiedeman, Randy Strohm, Jim Dawson, and John Hillock. Out of these founding members Mike is still active on the Board, while the other families still support the EEF in other ways!

Since the inception of the EEF, the programs have been saved, and the friends of the EEF, past alumni, our small community and various other people continue to support the EEF.

The EEF is working 12 months out of the year trying to find different ways to raise money.

What is the Art Department working on???

Ms. Hueckman has been instrumental in getting the kids's art into the community.  Last year, Ms. Hueckman's students had a beautiful window display in the windows of the old Common Good business.  Ms. Hueckman  had a rotation of K - 12 art being displayed and it has been fun to see what the kids have been working on.  Also, at the 8th Annual WE LOVE OUR KIDS dinner auction, Ms. Hueckman and her students will decorate every spare wall in the Cloverleaf Hall.

It was announced at the Enterprise School Board meeting in March that the EEF will raise the money for a half time K - 12 Art teacher!  The EEF is trying to rally the troops and raise an additional $40,000 for the school year 2012-2013 to save Art K - 12 in a half time position.  What can you do to help save the Art program?  Please see our HOW TO HELP section below.

EEF's Turkey Bingo pairs with the Community Bank

The annual Turkey Bingo is held in November  and is sponsored by Community Bank.   Held in the Enterprise School Cafeteria, bring your family and enjoy a chili/cornbread dinner and bingo!  Enter in the turkey calling contest  and try your hand at Bingo.  Winner of bingo receives a frozen turkey.  Thank you to Community Bank for your sponsorship of this fantastic  event for the Enterprise Education Foundation!

Basketball Tournament

The EEF puts on a basketball tournament in the winter. The Winter Classic is sponsored by Sterling Savings Bank and is an opportunity for our area schools to enjoy a double elimination tournament. This tournament is held in December.    The Oregon Trail Tournament is held over the Christmas break in Pendleton.  This enables our kids to play on the State floor of the Convention Center and has proven to be an excellent fundraiser for the Foundation.  Last year, 2011, the tournaments were sponsored by Sterling Savings Bank.

Elk's Crab feed pairs with the EEF to host a Casino Night

February is Casino Night!  Come and enjoy a night with your friends and try your hand at our Casino Night.  At the end of the night, turn in your winning chips, receive tickets for your winnings, and enter them into prize buckets for some great prizes.

This year our date is set for February 25th at 5:30.  Great prizes include a $100 gas card to Steve's Shell, 4 Boise Steelheader Hockey tickets good for 2012-2013 season and 4 OSU Beaver Baseball tickets.  HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

We Love Our Kids Dinner Auction

Held in April, we have had 8 years of wildly successful Dinner Auctions!  Delicious prime rib dinner with all the fixings start out the night, with silent auction bidding, fantastic art displays from the kids, entertainment, all ending in a live auction of the kid's projects that sees a LOT of heated bidding!  It is unbelievable to see what this community will do for it's kids year after year.  This event is definitely our biggest fundraiser for the year, and is one of the most enjoyable for the Board to put on.

The Pledge Drive

The Pledge Drive continues to be a success!  The Pledges are very important to our continuation of the community goal of providing art K -12 and music K - 6  to our students. Please contact us if you would like more information on how to pledge your support or you may mail in a pledge to Enterprise Education Foundation, PO Box 296, Enterprise, OR 97828.

PacifiCorp Grant Recipient

In 2011, the Foundation was awarded $1,000 from PacifiCorp to help buy a Smart Board for the Elementary.  These interactive boards are a fantastic addition to the school and we appreciate PacifiCorp's outstanding dedication to our school.

In 2010, the Foundation was again awarded a grant from PacifiCorp in the amount of $1,500.  The focus that year was on a drum set for the K - 6 Music Department.

In 2009, we received a $1,000 grant from PacifiCorp. This money was utilized in the K - 6th grades specifically earmarked towards science projects.  K - 3rd grades will be putting a deer fence around their garden.  Seems as if the deer think those kids do a good job growing their dinners!  4th - 6th grades will be purchasing magnets, pulleys and levers, and solar kits.

We were awarded $2,000 in 2008 which was used to restock the K - 12 art department with much needed supplies after the art program had been basically non existent up to that point.

In 2007 we were awarded $2,000 which was used to replace the existing piano that is kept in the Multipurpose Room for operettas, concerts, and plays.   Thank you also to Welch Music in Boise for their generous donation for the balance of the piano donation.  Also, thank you to Karleen Gomes who made a padded, embroidered cover to protect the piano.

The Enterprise Education Foundation would like to thank PacifiCorp for their continued support of the Enterprise kids!

Safeway eScrip Program

eScrip is a program through Safeway stores and it's partners.  Through the eScrip program, Safeway donates up to 10% of the value of all qualifiying purchases at Safeway stores to the organization of your choice.  EEF would like to be that organization. It is simple, register your Safeway card in the escrip program.  Every time a purchase is made using your Safeway card, a percentage is donated to EEF.  EEF donates those funds directly to Enterprise Schools.  Currently, Safeway donates on average $675 per month to EEF through the eScrip program (the second most of any non-profit in Oregon).  Wow!  Those donations originate with people who are registered.  EEF would like to challenge you to register today!  If you are already registered, thank you--you are part of that $675/month.  For the year of 2011, Safeway and it's partners contributed $12,692.41 to the Enterprise Education Foundation!

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP KEEP ART AND MUSIC AT ENTERPRISE??

There are many different ways to help support the EEF.

Is your card registerd with Safeway as EEF as it's beneficiary through the eScrip program?  What about your friends/family/co workers that shop at Safeway?  ANY Safeway near or far is acceptable.

Have you attended a dinner auction, or donated an item for auction?

Have you attended an event like Casino Night?  Turkey Bingo?  Basketball Tournaments?

Have you purchased Outlaw clothing?

Have you made a donation or pledged annually to support the EEF?

Have you LIKED us on Facebook so you know what we are working on?

PLEASE contact us for more information on any of the above items.  If we want to save Art and Music, we have to pull together and provide these programs for their well rounded education.

Memorials

We receive donations "In Memory Of" frequently.  What a great way to pay tribute to someone special.  When you give the Enterprise Education Foundation a memorial, we send a note on your behalf to the family stating your donation.  The name of the Memorial is then placed on one of two boards:  The yearly rotational board or the "In Memory Of" board.  If we receive $125 or less, the name is put on the yearly rotational board.  If we receive $126 or more, the Memorial stays on the "In Memory Of" board for the life of the board.  Donations "In Memory Of" are eligible for a donation receipt and are tax deductible.
